The Peril of Ingratitude, Romans 1:21
To paraphrase author and pastor John Piper, the chief end of humanity is to glorify God by enjoying him forever - full of thankful gratitude. Romans 1:21 teaches that God is extremely displeased with thanklessness. That is not just good or bad manners. It is a heart that rejects him. Romans 1 goes on to reveal what happens then. See also 2 Timothy 3:1ff. It is thankfulness that expresses the heart of people who worship and serve the Lord. In the midst of a deeply thankless generation, let's be people of rich and loving gratitude.
